Panels Information

Panels for TeslaCon 14 are broken down into four categories. Lecture, Presentation, Maker’s,  and Activities.

Each category has specific outlines-so please read through them carefully to best select the program you wish to do. Most panels will run for 1 hour and 30 minutes. (Depending on needs of panelists and group they can run longer of needed but must be stated when you register the panel) An hour for presentation- 15 minutes for Q&A and then the rest for cleanup and setup for next panelist.

We ONLY NEED you to list when you cannot present. We can try to fit in your requests but cannot promise anything. We always need panelists who are willing to present on Thursday and also Sunday Morning until 1pm. You may also REPEAT your panels if you present Thursday and we have openings.

Lecture Panel

A lecture panel is just that, you lecture or tell a story, or present a theme by using verbal skills or using simple visuals only. There IS NO Audio Visual Equipment in the room. You will have a podium / table and a microphone. This type of panel is also suitable for multiple speakers and presenters. This format is great for authors, or discussions about specific subjects and you want to have the audience engage as much as possible.

Presentation Panel

A presentation panel is when you use audio visual equipment (a projector and screen) to enhance and give your panel. There is Audio Visual Equipment in the room. You will have a projector / screen / podium / table and a microphone. You must bring your OWN computer and cables-if you have none you must let us know when you register the panel. We use standard HDMI plugins. This type of panel is also suitable for presenters who want to engage the audience more and tell a story or give more information than a traditional talk and need visuals to help expand the experience. This format is great for things that deal with art, history, biographies, history or anything where seeing a visual helps the audience connect more.
*We require AV presentations to be in PDF format.

Makers Panel / Workshop

A maker’s panel is a hands on panel/workshop where you as the instructor give out information and help those attending create or make something during the panel. It is also a format that can be used for demonstrations and how-to classes as well.. There IS NO Audio Visual Equipment in the room-unless you tell us when signing up. You will have a podium / table and a microphone. This type of panel is also suitable for people who want to teach and interact closely with fellow fans. We will be making these classes 2 hours long so there is time for set-up / the class / and take down so the next presentation will have a clean classroom to start.

Activities Panel

An activities panel/workshop is a panel used for people who wish to present things such as dance instruction, gaming, period games, or a clas that is more for a general audience and does not require special setup like tables and or crafts.. There IS NO Audio Visual Equipment in the room. You will have a table and a microphone. This type of panel is also suitable for multiple speakers and presenters. This format is great for late afternoon or after dinner, or discussions about specific subjects and you want to have the audience learn a specific thing over a period of time.
